Winter Olympics proves tense for sports betting fans

Sports betting action at the Winter Olympics isn't over yet

Sports betting fans will have been watching the current Winter Olympic Games in Vancouver very closely. Action on the snow and ice has seen some sure fire winners crash out, while the underdogs have gone on to take the medal.

US alpine skier Lindsey Vonn was one such star. After winning gold in the women's downhill race, she crashed out in the ladies super combined, to the surprise of many fans.

The US also managed a shock victory against Canada in the men's ice hockey. Despite playing on home ice Canada lost 3 -5 to their neighbours and long-time rivals.

However, the action isn't over yet and there are many events that sports betting fans will be keeping their eye on in the coming days.

Canada and the US will be facing off again on the rink as the women's teams battle it out for the gold medal on February 25th. The US currently sits at the top of the medal table, yet Canada may feel it has a point to prove following the men's teams defeat, meaning this match is likely to be anything but ladylike.

Also, while the bulk of the skiing might be over, there are still a number of snowboard events still left to take place. Both the men and women have yet to compete in the parallel giant slalom event and if the skiing slalom course is anything to go by competitors could be in for a tough ride.

Canadians Maelle Ricker and Ashleigh McIvor have already won the snowboard cross and skier cross events, so will the country manage another in the remaining snowsports events?

Finally, men and women will both be taking to the rink for short track speed skating events. These high speed races are often extremely unpredictable, but again Canada has been performing well so far on the ice.

If this Olympic Games has taught fans of sports betting anything, it's that there is no such thing are a guaranteed win.ADNFCR-2648-ID-19634868-ADNFCR
