Europeans Dominating EPT Main Event As Americans Edged Out

European poker players dominating in Barcelona

Canadian poker stars Mike Watson and Mike McDonald may have enjoyed some success in the Super High Roller Event in Barcelona - part of the first stop on the latest European Poker Tour (EPT) - but it is players from across the pond that are dominating in the Main Event.

Spain's Samuel Rodriguez will hold the chip lead going into Day 5, sitting behind a stack of 5,330,000, while an Australian and three other Europeans complete the rest of the top five.

John Juanda from the US is the only North American player in the top ten going into the penultimate day of the Main Event, sitting in sixth with 1,644,000 chips despite having held the lead at the end of Day 2.

With the final table set to be decided today (August 24th), Juanda will be looking to add to his first major EPT title to his two World Series of Poker wins, but he certainly has his work cut out given the size of Rodriguez's lead.
