GPI Update: Two Canadians In The Top Ten

Jonathon Duhamel holds onto third spot in the POY rankings

Two Canadian poker stars have made the top ten in the latest Global Poker Index (GPI) top 300 rankings, with Mike McDonald and Sorel Mizzi both moving up one place to occupy ninth and tenth spots respectively.

McDonald's fortunes will have been done no harm by his latest fifth place finish in the most recent Super High Roller Event on the European Poker Tour in Barcelona, a feat for which he walked away with €215,100 ($268,200).

Elsewhere, Erik Cajelais has leapt an impressive 23 places to move into 63rd sport, and this is likely to do with his achievements at the World Poker Tour Merit Cyprus Classic earlier this month.

In terms of the GPI Player of the Year (POY) standings, Jonathon Duhamel has held onto third place while Cajelais has jumped up six, now sitting in fifth. Germany's Marvin Rettenmaier currently holds the lead in the race to be crowned GPI POY.
