There is more to poker than simply learning the rules and playing like an automaton.
You should also know a few dos and don'ts regarding etiquette and effective play.
Do:
- Be patient if someone needs a little time to think about their move.
- Stay polite, even if the game becomes frustrating.
- Consider bluffing if you are in a late position with no strong hands before you.
- Manage your bankroll properly, as this will help your game and winnings.
Don't:
- Take too long. In online poker, stick to one game at a time until you are confident enough to move at a decent pace.
- Ask to see losing hands. You might see them but do not demand it.
- Show your cards when folding. Letting people see them before showdown can affect the game unfairly.
- Bluff if a lot of players are still in the hand or if it includes someone who does not ever fold.
