An online poker player has won the 2010 Aussie Millions main event at the Crown Casino in Melbourne.
Tyron Krost bettered almost 750 other poker players to take home the A$2 million (C$1.9 million) prize after first competing in a series of online poker qualifiers.
The 23-year-old furniture salesman from Sydney expressed his delight at coming out on top ahead of some of the world's best poker players and revealed that he spent only A$700 in qualifying for the tournament.
He said: "I got some really good spots on the final table [and] when I needed a hand, I seemed to get it.
"It just hasn't sunk in at all how much money I have just won."
Krost has previously cashed at the World Series event in 2008, but this is his largest win to date.
His victory came after a heads-up clash with another online poker qualifier, Frederik Jensen, who won A$1.1 million for his efforts in the competition.
The first-ever Aussie Millions event took place in 1998 with a total prize pot of A$74,000 and a field of ten international players, most of whom were from New Zealand.
