Andras Koroknai has scooped the top prize at the LA Poker Classic event.

Andras Koroknai has won the LA Poker Classic event, taking the top prize of $1,788,040 (C$1.84 million).

The Hungarian prospered over five other players including Raymond Dolan on the final table.

Dolan finished second after the last day of play at the tournament, with Tri Huynh in third and Gevork Kasabyan in fourth.

Most of the tournament's big names had already been eliminated, leaving the way clear for Koroknai to claim the win.

Carlos Mortensen, a player with earnings of about C$10 million from the game, led after the fourth day of play but failed to make it to the final table of six.

Johnny Chan, the holder of ten World Series of Poker bracelets, also fell towards the end of the fifth day of play.

Koroknai had led at the beginning of the day's play and quickly seized control of the table, knocking out Michael Kamran early on.

A big hand between Dolan and Koroknai effectively decided the title, with the Hungarian gaining a massive chip lead after beating Dolan's pair of aces with a jack kicker.

Koroknai then went on to take the title with a flush after Dolan had gone all-in and could only find a pair of fours.
