Atlantic City Casino Suing Gamblers Over Baccarat Winnings
Golden Nugget Atlantic City Casino refuses to pay out to winners after controversy surrounding unshuffled cards:Casino demands gamblers return their winnings from baccarat game.
Atlantic City casinos have been having a tough time of things recently, and it seems that the struggle is set to continue as the Golden Nugget has decided to sue 14 players who won 41 consecutive bets in a game of baccarat.
According to reports, the players quickly noticed a trend emerging in the cards that were being dealt, and began upping their bets after establishing the pattern. An unshuffled deck has been blamed for the incident.
The casino is arguing that the gamblers are not entitled to their winnings - which come to more than $1.5 million in total - stating that the game was not fair for both sides.
"The gamblers unlawfully took advantage of the Golden Nugget when they caught on to the pattern and increased their bets," the casino said in a statement.
All in all, the Golden Nugget wants the $550,000 it has already paid out to the players returned, as well as demanding the return of the chips that they still hold, which are said to carry a value approaching the $1 million mark.
