AC's Resorts Casino Hotel has picked up a coveted industry award

Canadian casino fans could be tempted to plan a road trip south of the border following the recent honouring of one Atlantic City casino.

The Resorts Casino Hotel has been named as the Casino of the Year out of all New Jersey and Pennsylvania casinos by Philadelphia Daily News and Philly.com.

According to the judging panel, the casino's new hotel rooms and 1920s theme help it provide a "one-of-a-kind" entertainment experience.

Commenting on the win and what he described as a "whirlwind " 2011, Dennis C Gomes, owner, president and chief executive officer of Resorts Casino, said he is extremely proud on the casino's achievements.

"We came into Resorts with the goal of turning around a property that was in decline for a long time and our initiatives were designed to generate a new customer base and offer new amenities for Resorts loyal guests," he commented.

"The entire Resorts team came together in a way I have never quite experienced in this industry and although we still have a way to go, I couldn't be prouder of our accomplishments."
